Some reflections begin in the therapy room. Others emerge through a book, a film, a conversation or something noticed in everyday life. They often meet at the same point: the attempt to understand what we feel and the ways, not always conscious, in which we try to protect ourselves and remain connected to others.
Here I write about psychological trauma, self-esteem and self-criticism, emotions, relationships, the connection between mind and body, identity, migration and belonging. Some articles are informed by clinical work and research; others begin with experiences and questions that continue to resonate.
You will not find formulas to follow or explanations intended to fit everyone. My aim is to create a space in which to look more closely at what often shapes us before we are able to recognise it, and to find more precise words for our experience.
